Blog is a weird word, huh?

Well, here it is. I started this blog so I could stop flooding my Twitter and Facebook friends with recipes and my cooking and baking experiences. I love reading recipe reviews online, so I can hear from "real people" who don't have their own television show or line of home furnishings or gourmet kitchens and how their experience was, so that's what I hope to do here, and maybe share some good recipes.

About me:

24. Single. No kids. Student. Amateur baker. EXTREMELY amateur cook. Up until very recently I said "Oh, no, I don't cook." but I realize how much money I could save by actually cooking, I decided I better start. I quickly got tired of the grilled chicken-brown rice-veggie combo, so I really started branching out, networking with friends for their favorite recipes, and I've really built up my confidence in myself to prepare a decent, edible meal. I even cooked Thanksgiving for 3 last year!

I have a few favorite cookbooks, but I never follow a recipe to the letter. I am a big fan of using what I have on hand or substituting in flavors I like for flavors I don't prefer.

Long story short, here you will find recipes test driven by me, an inexperienced cook who doesn't follow the rules. Welcome. And leave me a comment!

p.s.-the name of my Blog is HouseWomanRachel, because one time my dear friend Carrie told me I was a great House Woman (as opposed to house wife!) and I thought that was a pretty cool term and compliment, and Rachel, well, that's me.
